In order to alter the demographic composition of the island Turkey has imported over 80,000 colonists to the occupied area.
Since the invasion 40,000 Turkish Cypriots have fled the occupied zone.
To this day Turkey occupies 37% of Cypriot territory in violation of over 120 United Nations resolutions that call for the removal of all Turkish troops and the restoration of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Cyprus.
