The sound of a breaking heart

When a heart breaks
does it make a sound?
Is it roaring,
deafening,
like a mountain crumbling in seconds?
Or is it quiet,
splintering,
like ice crackling under my feet
on a winther day?

I sit,
I listen.
There is no sound.
Just silent pain.
